After watching anime for 10+ years, it’s high time I started thinking about this. What I feel about which series are my Top Ten Favorites. Numbers 1-2 should not be shocking, as you heard me gushing about these before…but 3-10 are a lot tougher to rank. But here we go….
#1. CLANNAD After Story:
This one is obvious, considering how much I gushed over episode 18, (On Twitter, facebook, etc.). Ep. 18 turned what was an awesome series to being one of the best anime I have ever seen. It’s just that damn good, and nothing, not even Madoka(which I also loved) is as good.
#2: Puella Magi Madoka Magica:
A dark Mahou Shoujo story that was a heck of a lot different than most normal Mahou Shoujo series(Which I seemingly enjoy). This one was nice in telling the story, which, even though the title says otherwise, is primarily about the trials, heartbreak and hope of Akemi Homura. (It’s one of the few series that I have preordered all of the BDs from Japan.)
#3: To Aru Kagaku no Railgun:
2 dramas, I need action.(And humor in the form of twintailed Kuroko.) Character driven stories are what I look for in a good series most of the time(and this has a lot of them in spades).
#4: Mahoraba ~heartful days~:
The story about the girl with the multiple personalities(And the people around her) has been the one series I want to have licensed in the US, but no one wants to watch this story, which is sad.
#5: K-on!! (Season 2) :
This season shows the senior year of the HTT girls (Except for Azu-nyan, who is a junior) and all of the emotions that go with it (Ep 20 and 24 are highlights. Beware the Chipmunk Yui OP of the first 12 eps)
#6: Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya:
even though this is the movie and not the series, I can say nothing but praise for the adaptation of the novel. Also, Emotional Yuki Nagato is ADORABLE.
#7: Toradora! :
This was one of my favorite romantic Comedy series in a long while. Even though the ending may have needed work, I still enjoyed the whole story.
#8: Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu :
A few years ago, I adored the main character of this series. The story was actually very decent, even though it followed the same routine as other series. Note: This doesn’t include Purezza, which, besides a few episodes, was CRAP.(Not to mention, a hell of a lot of Fanservice. However, Santa Haruka and Bathtime Haruka game me epic nosebleeds.O_O…
#9: Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagann:
Normally, I hate Giant Robot series with a passion. However, Gurren Lagann threw what inhibitions I have on the Genre to the curb, showing me more impossible mecha. And not to mention: Miss Yomako.
#10: Les Miserables: Shoujo Cosette:
This one was a bit different than the other 9 series listed above. This one is based off the 1870′s novel by Victor Hugo, and it does a very good job in keeping to the story, albeit a few differences. Even though they do change the overall story, it does not change the endproduct.
