2011 Anime Expo Announcements: Day 1 : “Would you like to make a contract?”

Today is when the bulk of the panels from the various R1 companies have taken place. Lets look at what happened today:

NISA:

At AX, they announced the Go Nagai written Dororon Enma Kun. And as they were finishing up, they threw a Prinny bomb: They licensed Kimi ni todoke – From Me to You.  Not bad for the end of Year one of NISA Anime.

Right Stuf:

Seemingly still catering to the collector/Old School fan/Fan favorites:

They licensed rescued all other Dirty Pair series/OVAs/etc. Yes, This includes all the former ADV titles. Also, they also nabbed from ADV Gasaraki and all of Nadesico(Including the Prince of Darkness movie) all remastered.

AniplexUSA:

In years past, I would call Aniplex a “Stupid Anime Company.” But, they seem to be surviving by catering to both the hardcore collectors(Garden of Sinners BD), and the casual fan(Durarara). And this mindset will continue. They have licensed Blue exorcist for DVD release. And, as we figured, Puella Magi Madoka Magica was licensed, winning AX so far.

Viz:

Another year, another Bleach/Naruto Movie. The surprise was the license of the Professor Layton movie. Was NOT expecting that.

Funimation:

Last panel of the day. And they had a ton of licenses. Baka and Test 2nd season was nabbed(No big surprise there), asobi ni ikuyo was a title that vaguely interested me, so I may watch it, and B GATA H KEI was NABBED.(You can tell my excitement.) Also, Steins gate and Deadman Wonderman was licensed as well.

Also, Funi said about the missing Geneon titles:

Meaning: Probably expect some news at Otakon…..Probably……hopefully(I Want my Railgun, Dammit).
