Joppy’s Quick Hits: June 23

The revival continues with the revival of a little used feature: Quick Hits. And instead of talking about certain series, like I did in the past, I will talk anime news. So:

Minami Haruka: Not Amused

First off: Otakon in this stage of animecons is forgotten due to the fact that AX is around the corner. Last night, they got the spotlight as they announced that Makoto Shinkai, the one who directed 5 centemeters per Second, The Place promised in our Early Days, and Voices of a Distant Star, will be a Guest of Honor. AGAIN, I’m stuck here while all the wonderful guests go to the big cons. Good for you, Otakon, Press release VIA ANN

Next: Maiden Japan. one of the companies born from the death of ADV, licensed Himawari, a story about a Ninja girl. Interesting pickup, but lots of female ninjas(and hope for no annoying ones like Naruto), makes this at least a rental title. Again, press release via ANN

Finally: It seems that the writer of Kannagi will resume her story in July. For me, her getting better is priority one, and it seems she’s ready to go again. Also, I have watched the Anime and will be buying the manga for Kannagi later. Hope she stays well. Link to news via ANN.
