Joppy’s DVD Review- Lucky Star

Starting a new feature on Makieism, DVD Reviews-Starting with my favorite series, Lucky Star with disk 1, which came out by Bandai Entertainment for R1 on May 6th.

Story- After watching this, with the “Food episode” It is kinda weaker than the episodes afterwords. It may be due to the switch of Directors in ep. 5. Grade B

Dub/sub- The Dub actors have done Lucky Star well. However, Wendee Lee cannot beat the power of Aya. However, you can feel Wendee’s influence from her role as Haruhi, so it all balances out. And Akira is a riot. With her and Gotouza-sama(sp) in a future episode, And Akira having the same VA as Mikuru, I wonder how they will handle that one.
Dub B, Sub A

Video- No real issues, save for the problem where I couldn’t play some of the extra’s on my ps2. On my comp, it worked just fine.

Key Scene Galleries x2- Meh.
Textless OP w/pink japanese kanji all over the place- Meh.
Promo clip- Not the 10-15 secs of Konata’s “Muuuuuuuuuuuu~!” but a whopping half a minute. :3:3:3
The Adventures of Minoru Shiraishi- As he makes a fool of himself, this installment is priceless.
Trailers- Haruhi, the Third(Both are Kadokawa), Eureka Seven, and .hack//roots
Grade B-

Final grade-
For disk one- It is good, not great.

Grade B- For Lucky Star, this was the weakest vol. of the series. It does get better though.
