The banner to my Blog has been changed again, to reflect what has been Happening in the R1 region the past month.
First the bad-
ADV- The first anime company in N. America, the company seems to be on it’s last legs. First it cancels Newtype USA and is hoping to bring out it’s own magazine. Then it cancels its’ Linear Programing for the Anime Network. Finally, yesterday, it was revealed to Anime News Network that A lot of titles have been taken off their website, Kanon and Gurren Lagann being part of the list. There have been a lot of Speculation as to whether or not it is the end of the line for ADVision, and it will remain for a while (Until ADV posts a press release). I prepare to buy A new DVD player to play R2 DVDs for Kanon(I can only depend so much for my computer)
Bandai- Earlier this month, Bandai realized that some of their new discs have Replication errors. Unlike ADV, who remains silent, they revealed their mistake and are fixing it. That is a class act company, however, more mistakes like this will bring them in the same position as Geneon and ADV, so they need to be careful(I WANT MY LUCKY STAR!)
Funimation- There was a State of Funimation interview written about Funimation president Gen Fukunaga. In it, he talks about the future, which include season sets and Download to own anime.(IE legal downloads). Also, Funimation has just refurbished its website, so they should stick around for awhile.
Media Blasters- The only one I have little to no info on.
Geneon- Still dead as a doornail.-_-
