The State of Anime: Sept ’07 – Ups and a LOT of Downs

September 30th. Ugh. Now we start getting closer to winter.

First, the only really good news was the licensing of Kanon, on of my all time favs(And one everyone knows I said was licensed from the getgo.) After Christmas, I’ll be able to nab this series. ^_^^_^^_^.

With every yin, there is a yang though. Geneon stops distributing it’s titles in a few short months. Sad in a way, as a quarter of my DVDs have Geneon/Pioneer titles. Hopefully, they stick around in some capacity(Dentsu, don’t run away completely.)

Then, there was the axe-killer, and all of the other copycats that caused the postponement of School Days, and Higurashi. Didn’t stop them from showing the two series, though(Probably highly edited for TV though for Higurashi.)

Funimation delivers another C&D to Shinsen over RomeoxJuliet, another Gonzo title. Everyone may be complaining over this, but it could be worse. (They could start suing the living daylights out of people, but Funi isn’t that stupid.)

Speaking of Stupid Anime Companies, it seems that Odex used a.f.k.’s subs in their version of The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. Even though this is wrong(And definately means that they are dling fansubs and are hippocrates), us as a fanbase can’t do a thing about it, except to boycott them even more.

Interesting tidbit 1. Geneon used Odex for some of their titles (Karin is one). Now that Geneon is downsizing, Odex lost a moneymaker from Geneon. So I expect some more bad stuff coming in the next few weeks…-_-.

And how did I go in my dls of summer(Which is now fall?)……..Still way back in LS. (Ep. 14 I just finished.) FAIL. At least, in between series, I can sneak an episode in.>_>.

Oh, by the way, if anybody hasn’t noticed, I am using a new theme. Since the theme is supposedly used for churches and non-profit organizations, I call my theme “The Church of Konata” Aka Makieism v. 2.01. I may still tweak it a bit, but this should be it for now.
