Last week, a day before it was supposed to have been streamed, someone went onto the Funimation Server, nabbed the new One Piece ep that was supposed to be screened, and torrented it out to everyone. This caused Funi to try to fix this problem(and for One piece streams to be cancelled(Hopefully for now)). They were gonna try again, but the same group went and nabbed the new Phantom and FMA eps that were supposed to be streamed. This would probably not be a problem except for the fact that the episodes(Except for FMA) hasn’t aired, even in Japan. My opinion.:What these “Rippers”(That is what I am gonna call these guys) are doing is setting the US market up for a fall. Because of all of the leaks, the Japanese companies(Especially Toei) will be more hesitant to let anyone stream their work. I have also seen all of the Anime forum posts stating that this is all Funi’s fault. I doubt that is the case. Because: Even a high amount of security probably will not stop these guys from stealing these episodes. They would try and try until they succeeded. That is why blaming Funi is pointless. …And I know C&D’s won’t stop these guys. Fansubs are one thing. Trying to piss off everyone(Fans, companies, etc) is another. I feel that Funi should go after these guys. The Rippers are trying to destroy Funi, and with it, the NA market. Destroying what little we have left in NA is not a good thing. Major Backlash is occuring after the news that all rape games in japan just got banned. This could have serious implications if a certain group goes and starts targeting regular bishoujo/eroge games. Companies like Key, Leaf, Circus, and Navel would fight that one tooth and nail if that occurs, so I wouldn’t worry about that for now, but it could happen after this… My opinion is this: What you do in your home is one thing: Playing those types of games do not hurt anybody. However, the moment you actually go out and act out these games, that is when I lose all sympathy for a person. Also: I believe censorship is a big waste of time. That is what this all boils down to. Source: Canned Dogs We are about a month out from the beginnings of Saimoe ‘09. So, since this is what my blog has been specializing in for the past 2 years,(This will be the third year I blog Saimoe): here is what to look for.
That is my prelim thoughts as to what will happen thoughout this Saimoe. It does not mean what I will say is gospel, we have seen some epic WTF moments in years past(Question girl from anime I don’t know is definately one that surprised me), So somehow, expect the unexpected in this one…. ![]() Rena would LOVE to take all Saimoe contestants home... This is in regards to the post I did on the Spice and Wolf post I did earlier…. Because there is a disagreement going on between me and some of the other Anime Industry people due to the way I posted that post(Due to the fact that they feel that I am all ANTI-Gia or Anti-Animevice) all because I disagreed at the way it was announced. Well, I have come back to clarify what point I was trying to make… I was not questioning the decision to let Gia post the announcement on her Site. Not at all. She has every right to post whatever she wants at her site(As well as what I want at my site)… The only thing that made me a little grumbly was the fact that it was implied(Me probably reading too much into it) that this was supposed to have been announced at the panel. The fact that it was announced at Gia’s site does not even make me feel anything, good or bad. I know she has put in a lot of work into her site(Even having my boss Randall(From Dasaku/Ikimashou) write a guest post. All I want to do is enjoy my anime. It’s how I felt 10 years ago, that is still how I feel now. So, I can drop this and concentrate on the next con that is rapidly approaching….(A-Kon?. AnimeNext? AX?) ![]() Re-used pic, yes, but this is how I feel. Even though I am still kind of annoyed at certain people over the handling of the Spice and Wolf announcement, they more than make up for it at the Funi Panel.
![]() ...We'll bee seeing more of her shortly... Source: Bayoab This month signifies the two year anniversary of my blog at Dasaku.net. I know I haven’t posted much in the past 5 months, but I shall get better(Since con season and Saimoe is coming up.) ….Also, Just yesterday, thanks to Haruhi (And my readers), my blog passed 25,000 hits. Thanks to everyone for your support. Finally, since it memorial day weekend(The unofficial start of summer), I changed my banner to the summer w/the K-on girls(Minus Asuza, for now…). It should stay this way till the summer is over, methinks. ![]() For you,a K-on summer. …And they didn’t even announce it…….yet! Earlier today, the Funimation Blog had this to say:
And instead of letting Funi Announce it at their own Panel(Like they were supposed to), an impatient news site defeats the purpose of announcing it themselves. Now they either gotta scramble to either find another one of their unannounced series, or not announce anything at all, making AnimeBoston Boring this year. ![]() ....somebody shoot me... With all the the trolling from Kadokawa the past two years, I was expecting another troll rehash. ![]() Haruhi, it's about damn time you return. Instead, Kadokawa finally wises up, and shows the first new Haruhi ep in a long time, from the story- Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody. If I am looking at the wiki correctly, the next ep should be the Computer Club President’s disappearance. ….And not in the way everyone would have liked it. ![]() Mio is saddened. I am too. …Instead of fighting till the end(Like most anime fans would have done), he gives up and pleads guilty to an a charge of obscenity, Almost gaining him a hefty fine, a prison sentence, and to give up the hobby he loves. Someone shoot me. While I’m not a lolicon fan, or anything of the sort, I do believe that this slaps the face of anyone who likes doujins, (Which I have a few, but they are stashed away.) The CBLDF was more than willing to help him fight this, and now that this is done, now we don’t know if others will be caught and tried or not. Source: ANN Jopmod edit: Here is another post that agrees with what I feel about this. Written by the boss of Dasaku himself, he comdemns the chickening out of the guy who gave up.(His site is NWS, fair warning). One of my friends got a nice letter from his ISP, Saying that BayTSP has sent him a DMCA warning. The latest Anime to fall under this…..is Queens Blade. Warning letter follows: |
