Since there is a lot of thinking of ADV’s ongoing troubles, We turn to Geneon who had these problems a year ago.

History lesson- Almost a year ago, Geneon closed, leaving behind a ton of series stuck in limbo. Higurashi, Rozen Maiden, Karin, and Hellsing Ultimate were a few of the titles that stopped.

As of now- Funi has signed an agreement w/ Dentsu, giving them exclusive rights to distribute a bunch of titles-
Hellsing Ultimate, Ergo Proxy, Nanoha(!), Black Lagoon, Rozen Maiden and Traumend, The Familiar of Zero(!), The Story of Saiunkoku, Karin, Higurashi(!!), Black Lagoon(Includes Second Barrage), Kyo Kara Maoh Season 2,Kamichu and The Law of Ueki.

Other Titles that are in this deal include the highly sought after Shana, Fate/Stay Night,and Elemental Gelade.

This was an epic pickup for Funi, as they just gained most of the power of Geneon behind the Funi banner.

And AX is only 2 hours old…

The ADV saga continues, and it isn’t the news that we were looking for…

From Robert, Some anticipated anime titles have been put on hold indefinately. Welcome to the NHK, Shattered Angels, and the FINAL DVD of Kanon have now been put on hold.

…..July 4th cannot come quick enough. ADV needs some help, and it needs it badly-_-.

Edit- Welcome to the NHK should be at best buy. I checked and it is there.

Kanon, on the other hand, was not.

This weekend is one of the biggest anime cons of the US: Anime Expo.

According to moonphase, A new season of ef, called ef - a tale of melodies, is coming soon. And as it seems, everyone seems to be coming back to do the second one.

This is welcome news, considering how well I liked the first one. Hopefully, It is as good as ~a tale of memories.

I have been seeing a lot of genderbending characters(I even saw a Konata-kun, and that scared me.) The whole reason the craze started is because of one person…

Kyonko.

She has been popping up everywhere. Even Making a case in the Cutest Character contest I run in the forums I hang out in. So, a Question to the masses…:

Why is she popular? All we see are only fanart. She shouldn’t be this popular amongst the “Real” girls of anime. In the contest I run, She already took out one person, and is holding her own against Shana.

Note- I don’t hate the character per-say, I just hate character overhyping. So why the popularity?

A lot of new anime seems to be announced in the past week:

Queen’s blade, based on Fantasy books(And the infinite figures it spawned)
KissxSis- Mahoromatic’s creator Ditama makes a story about a boy and two stepsisters
Skip Beat- An interesting Shoujo Manga.

Also- PiQ, ADV’s replacement for Newtype USA, has died horribly. The magazine had only lasted 4 issues before it folded. Note- Even though it shows some instability, ADV still has a panel or two scheduled for AX Next weekend.

For all those waiting for it, The last two Mahoraba scans have been released. Mahoraba is one of my favs, so it is good to finally see it released.

Finally…

It is Saimoe time again, and the nominations are open. here is the website which will be home base for the contest.

Yes, like last year, I will cover this….and if I remember right, no “Desu” anywhere…

Note- I could post about the drama that is occuring w/in the blogosphere, but I won’t. Last time, I got burned with a practical joke. This time, lets let them figure out their problems.No need to make it worse than it is.

At least some companies do not play around with their licenses.

John Sirabella, the President of Media Blasters announced that he licenced:

Dokuro-chan. I approve of this, and there were no games involved in this license.

However, he also mentioned that something is gonna happen in a few weeks, and it isn’t Geneon returning. It is something that isn’t good, as far as I can see.

Also, in the past week, two things have happened:

Tokyopop split in two, canning 39 people. They have also started to slow down their releases to about 400 releases this year. Which means some series, like the Chibi Vampire(Karin sounds a heck of a lot better) novels, have been cancelled.

My thoughts: Tokyopop is in a lot of trouble. Why else would they do this? But, as long as I get my moonphase, I’ll live.

The other news is a another round of bad news: The attack on a crowd on Akihabara. The suspect(Come-on, we all know he did it), a 25 year old, reportedly said that he was tired of his life, and that was one of the reasons why he did it. The media is playing the card that his Otaku nature that he had was a catalyst in this heinous crime.

My thoughts: This guy is nuts. He obviously planned this out for a while, and deserves whatever punishment the courts give the guy.

Also- I am continuing onward onto the last 5 episodes on Shana II. After two or three episodes of Boringness, there seems to be a ramping up of Chaos building over the appearance of Sabrac, coming from the previews for 20. Hopefully, that battle won’t disappoint.

I haven’t posted anything in over a week. However, I am not in hibernation, just been working.

In between, I have been watching Shana II. Shana herself enters the realm of top 5 Joppy’s girls throughout the series. Won’t pass Konata and Makie, but Shana is up there with the others. And her Shana-tan version of her character is too cute for words.

Also made my almost permanent banner for my blog. It has my two favorite anime girls of all time, Makie Sasaki, and Konata Izumi. It may be a bit underdeveloped, but it works.

More stuff can be expected this week, like the past week in review.(Although I am hesitant,as a lot of negative things happened.)
